Duties of a Student
Student life is the best part of our life. It is the very foundation on which the future attainment of manhood rests. It is, as it were, the seed-time of life. What we sow at this period, is reaped by us when we begin our worldly life. A student has a number of duties, not only to himself but also to others. His dutifulness is particularly important because his young life is a preparation for the future. The habits he forms as a student last all his life. He has, therefore, a duty to himself. But on man is a full man if he dies not to care for others.
It is essential, a student should learn how to do good to others. His primary duty is to study. He should not waste any time and make the best of his opportunities. One of the important things for a student is to study regularly. He should attend to what the teachers say in the classroom. A student has to learn his lessons regularly. He must not neglect his homework. It is also necessary for him to do physical exercise regularly. A good student not only practices reading but also writing.
This is because writing not only improves one’s handwriting but also helps one remember things and to think logically. In our student life, we should choose our companions with great care. We should always bear in mind that a man without a sterling character like a vessel without a rudder or steering wheel. So it is the bounden duty of all the students to mix with good company and give up the bad company at all costs. They should take a bold stand at the time of national need and set everything right.
They should hear in mind that only men can make a nation great. So they should be careful to attain the qualities of a worthy citizen. He has duties to his parents and superiors. His parents expect him to mind his studies and grow into a responsible citizen. They make must fulfill their sacrifice for him. The best way to repay them is to fulfill their expectations. A student can learn much from his superiors by being respectful towards them.
He should also develop the habit of helping others. He must not be selfish. A selfish man is harmful to society. The future of a nation largely depends on what the students did today. If a student does not do his duties properly we cannot expect much from him. He will not be able to do good even to others his own self
